South Africa’s Uhuru, Maddox to spice up Blankets & Wine’s Kampala 12th Edition.

Uganda’s most sought after social event, Blankets and Wine Kampala returns for its 12th edition this Easter Sunday, with a South African flavor and a blend of the best Ugandan soul music.

Uhuru shot into limelight in 2013 after the release of the chart-topping single titled “Y-tjukutja”, which went on to be dubbed as the song of the year 2013 in South Africa. They produced and also featured in “Khona”, a duet with Mafikizolo which topped many music charts and won several awards in South Africa and beyond including the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards.

David Amon Ssemanda Ssematimba, better known by his stage name, Maddox, will add spice to an already glittery nuance of artistes. Widely renowned for his classical reggae music that talks about love, unity, social justice, peace and everyday life, Maddox’s energetic performance will be a welcome addition to the revelers who will flock the Uganda Museum, Blankets and Wine Kampala’s proverbial home.

Madoxx, who is greatly known for his classical reggae music, has been a favorite to many Uganda music lovers for more than a decade now. With some of his timeless hit songs such as “Namagembe”, “Irene” and “Munakyalo” among many others, Madoxx will be set out to excite the revelers at the Uganda rounds come the 27th March, 2016.

Madoxx will be performing alongside talented ladies Sitenda, a former contestant in the Tusker Project fame academy and Sandra Suubi to complete the star studded artiste line up.

Alex Tusingwire, the Tusker Malt Lager Brand Manager says that being the opening event of 2016, organizers wanted to unveil a unique blend of musical genres that will give revelers the ultimate Easter holiday.

“As Tusker Malt Lager, we are always on the lookout for the freshest musical experience for our consumers. This being an event that coincides with the Easter holiday, we wanted to give revelers the ultimate day out. The artiste lineup should give everyone who attends the event, a memorable experience,” he explained.

A quarterly, picnic style music festival, Blankets and Wine is East Africa’s premier music experience, designed to showcase outstanding musicians in the emerging genres of afro-based music. Revelers thus get the chance to enjoy the rich African talent in LIVE performances by a wide array of artistes.

Entrance fee is UGX 100, 000 at the Uganda Museum and gates open at 12:00pm on Sunday March 27, 2016.
